With the decree ordered by the Prime Minister on October 17, 2016, An Appeal Board was formed for the Educational institutions authorization and Accreditation. With the appointment of the Appeal Board, for the first time in Georgia, the current educational institutions are given the chance to appeal, based on the new procedures, the decisions taken by the board in regards to the authorization and/or accreditation. Based on the substantive appeals, the decision will be evaluated and reviwed.
The implementation of the appeal mechanism represents one of the major recommendations, which is crafted by the European Association for Quality Assurance Agencies and EU experts, and is reflected in the strategic plan, created by the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement. With the introduction of the above-mentioned mechanism, the Georgian quality assurance system becomes in compliance with the quality assurance standards and principles of the European higher education. With the implemention of these mechanisms, the quality of education will be enhanced, in conjunction with promoting the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement to join the European Association for Quality Assurance, and what is most important, the recognition of Georgian higher educational institutions qualifications and credibility on an international level.
