Organized by the Millennium Challenge Account – Georgia, a presentation of the second round of competition for the vocational education promotion was held within the scope of “Vocational Education for the Economic Development” project. The project is funded by the US Millennium Challenge Corporation, which is signed between the Government of Georgia and the United States with a total amount of $ 140 million.
The aim of the grant competition is to display the best practices, which will popularize the vocational education amongst youth and adults alike. The grant ranges from 5,000 USD to 25,000 USD. All the vocational education institutions are eligible to participate in the grant competition, who are affiliated with the formal or non-formal education, as well as other organizations (such as; private and public vocational education institutions, companies, vocational and non-governmental organizations).
During the project’s first round, seven projects were funded with a total amount of 70,000 USD. In 2016, within the scope of funded projects, the first large-scale e-learning course – “Information Technology” was introduced. Additionally, new approaches towards the cooperation between the private and the public sector was outlined, in conjunction with forming new methodologies.
