National Professional Council Meeting was held
Organized by the Ministry of Education and Science, the last vocational education meeting in 2016 held by the National Professional Council was held with the new members, chaired by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Aleksandre Jejelava.
There were three major issues discussed during the council:
1. A new legislation draft in vocational education
2. The training of the vocational teachers, the document on the professional development policy
3. The report and the summary of activities held in the vocational education in 2016
The new law on vocational education has been developed in regards to the challenges in vocational education as well as the concerns and recommendations provided by the interested parties. The presentation was followed by a discussion between the members of the council.
Vocational teacher training and professional
development is one of the most important components of teaching quality development. The obligatory professional
courses for the teachers, the attraction of the new personnel/teachers and the
opportunities in the professional development is the main directions for the
new policy document.
There have been significant changes in vocational education in 2016. The new vocational standards and modular standards have been implemented with the involvement of the private sector, the teaching and educational infrastructure has been renovated, and many important events/activities have been conducted.
