Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is the first state authority to sign a sectoral agreement with the free trade union.
The sectoral agreement which is oriented on support of people employed in educational institutions was concluded between the Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
The main principles of the Sectoral Agreement are the following: compliance with law, equality of the parties, voluntary nature of commitments, monitoring fulfillment of duties, negotiation process, protection of labour, social-economic interests and rights of workers at the educational and research institutions to ensure access to quality education.
The Agreement reflects all the areas and directions which will further develop relationships between the Ministry and the trade union, which has been actively taking place in recent years.
Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia is a member organization of Educational International, an international organization uniting works of the education system and also, the member of European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) and its president is an elected member of ETUCE. At the moment, Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia unites over 40 000 employees of educational institutions, which became ground for concluding the sectoral agreement.
