Unprecedented pilot project “Active sport for all schools” was launched on the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia together with State University of Physical Education and Sport within the framework of which 20 school sport teachers, 2 psychologists and special teacher of Tbilisi and regions will be retrained at State University of Physical Education and Sport. The Ministry will provide the process/introduction monitoring and assessment in accordance with the predefined criteria. If the project is successful, the module will be introduced in all schools.
The fact that improvement of teaching of physical education and sport is of great importance in introduction of healthy and safe lifestyle in school life was the main reason for implementation of the project. To make sport equally active at all the levels of teaching the equal number of girls and boys were involved in the course of the lessons as well as the schoolchildren with no particular abilities for sport. It is necessary that teachers be retrained for them to gain the relevant knowledge. As a result motivated and retrained teachers will ensure that the majority of schoolchildren including those with special educational needs and limited abilities are involved in the process to support their healthy lifestyle and physical development.
