In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, International Non-Governmental Organization Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), with the financial support of the Directorate General of the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, is implementing the project “We are ready! Education for security, reduction of disaster risk by inclusive approach”, within the framework of DIPECHO IV phase.
Within the framework of this project, the Turkmenistan delegation of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) visited Georgia for the purpose to share experience and to implement the best practice of cooperation with governmental structures / ministries. Within the framework of the visit, ASB Representative and the Turkmen delegation met with the Head of National Curriculum Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia –Natia Jokhadze and other representatives of the Department in order to review and share the plans for effective cooperation and future programs.
The project “We are ready!” is underway in cooperation with the State Security and Crisis Management Board, the Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, the organizations for people with disabilities and the universities, as well as with the support of local municipalities.
The main goal of the Disaster Preparedness ECHO Program (DIPECHO) is to educate and institutionalize the disaster risk reduction topics in the educational sector, to share the ASB experience across the region as well as to increase the capacity of the organizations for people with disabilities and to ensure their active co-participation in disaster risk reduction issues.
