Innovative ideas and the skills to use modern technology is the platform and actual opportunity for employment and self-employment. Development of entrepreneurship education within vocational education aims to create and develop this opportunity. The so called Hackathon was held to this effect within the framework of which students of vocations schools created prototypes of their innovative and high-tech ideas.
Innovation and technology laboratories (FabLabs) are operating in 14 state vocational schools as a result of joint effort of the Ministry of Education and Science and Innovation and Technology Agency where the prototypes of ideas were created by the groups of students who reached the final stage.
Hackathon was held with support of the Ministry of Education and Science and Innovation and Technology Agency. Involvement of company EUHACK founded by young people and private sector in this process is very favourable. Awards were offered for successful teams by private companies: Employers’ Association, Farmers’ Association, United Nations Development Programme in Georgia, Energo-Pro, Tegeta Motors and Beeline.
9 teams advanced to the final stage. Of the presented prototypes the following prototypes won: “Smart map” (team “Eternal”, College “Spectre”), “Equipment for people with disabilities” (team “Panacea”, College “Opizari”), “Innovative wine bottle wrapping” (team “Taiguli”, College “Mermisi”), “Medicinal herbs drying machine” (team “Eco”, College “Opizari”), “Idea – kitchen mini greenhouse” (team “Healthy”, College “Black Sea”), “Security system” (team “Nano”, College “Black Sea”).
