Final event of Georgian National Intellectual Championship "Etalon 2016-2017" was held in Batumi. "Etalon 2016-2017" is implemented within the social-educational project "Etalon" and its financial support is the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
The aim of project is to popularize education among pupils, promote deepening of knowledge and searching for information, increase interest and motivation. Also, to assist, evaluate the work of teachers and discover, present and encourage, talented and distinguished pupils.
The project is available for all pupils of high school of Georgia (8-11 classes); it is implemented in two stages: first stage - testings in schools through special web-portal as a result of which the pupils who moved to the second stage are identified. In the second stage, the event competitions are held at the places (in municipalities and self-governing cities) separately. The students who moved to the second stage of the so-called live mode compete with each other and the winner is declared - “Etalon Pupil” of municipality or town / region.
The intellectual championship of 2016-2017 academic year was held from October 2016 and ended with a grand finale in Batumi. Vakhtang Chachkhiani, a pupil of Lailash School became "Etalon Pupil of Georgia".
83 “Etalon Pupils" participated in the final event competition, who presented their own municipalities / self-governing cities, 10 regions of Tbilisi, the schools of A/R of Abkhazia and Adjara (Zemo Abkhazia) Municipality - among which “Etalon Pupil Of Georgia” of 2016-2017 academic year was declared.
The owners of prize-winning places of final competition were awarded money prizes and gifts.
Notable Statistics:
The number of schools involved in the national intellectual championship since October 2016 is 1833 schools (96,4% of schools with the possibility of involvement in the project), the number of pupils involved in the project is 39.416 students, the number of pupils who moved to the second stage is 5.475. The number of fans attending the events and directly interested people is 157,664. 83 pupils participated in the final event.
