The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia prepares the textbook in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, which will be dedicated for the optional subject of secondary level “Military History and National Defense”. The representatives of the National Curriculum Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia met with the Commander of the General Staff Trainings and Military Education of the Georgian Armed Forces, Colonel Malkhaz Makaradze and several representatives of the Ministry of Defense.
At the meeting, the discussion focused on improvement of the textbook and its adaptation to the pupils, as well as creation of educational-methodological resources for the subject teachers and the piloting procedures.
According to the representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the pupils should be aware of the threats facing Georgia, national and international security systems, the structure of the Georgian Defense and Armed Forces, civil security and self-preservation issues.
As a result of cooperation, it has been revealed that reflection of part of these issues is possible not only in the standard of the optional subject of secondary level, but also in some of the basic level curriculums of history, geography and nationality.
