Within the frameworks of the European Vocational Skills Week, the presentation of new qualification programs was held for the farmers and persons involved in the sector. New professions for agricultural development respond to the European Week and aim to submission of the results of activities in the field of rural economy to the interested parties, with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and the United Nations Development Program, through cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, the Farmers’ Association of Georgia and other partners.

The meeting was opened by First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Ketevan Natriashvili and Deputy Head of the UNDP in Georgia - Shomby Sharp. Optimized qualifications, work-based learning, renewed study resources and other important components were discussed at the event.

Vocational Education Reform is one of the key directions of the Government’s four-point plan - the most important part of the education reform. Therefore, it is important to get focused on agriculture as it is an essential part for Georgia’s economic development. The country has great potential for development to this direction; as there is a need for specialists and lack of qualified personnel.
