Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli, US Ambassador to Georgia Ian C. Kelly and Executive Director of Millennium Challenge Account - Georgia Magda Maghradze solemnly opened Akhaltsikhe №1 and Vale №1 Public Schools, which were completely rehabilitated by Millennium Challenge Account.
Area up to five thousand square meters was completely rehabilitated and the learning environment has been improved for 1000 students in Akhaltsikhe №1 Public School, and in Vale Public School the area more than two thousand square meters was completely rehabilitated and more than 300 pupils will continue to get education in modern environment.
Within the frameworks of the Public School Infrastructure Development Project of the Millennium Challenge Account, in 2016-2017, 30 public schools in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi regions were completely rehabilitated and equipped with the laboratories of natural sciences. In total, 70 thousand square meters have been rehabilitated and the learning environment has improved for more than 10 thousand pupils.
28 public schools in Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions are being rehabilitated simultaneously. In total, the area of 62 thousand square meters is being rehabilitated. The learning environment will be improved for 12 thousand pupils in addition.
Public Schools Rehabilitation Project of Millennium Challenge Account is implemented through funding of the Second Compact of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The aim of the project is to improve the learning environment of public schools, to rehabilitate the infrastructure completely, to equip modern scientific laboratories and to develop a maintenance system.
