The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a meeting with the Ambassador of Estonia to Georgia - Kai Kaarelson.
The sides positively assessed the existing cooperation between Georgia and Estonia in the fields of education and science. The trilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Estonian Government and UNICEF, was particularly emphasized during the meeting, which aims at executing the new supporting activities for the new National Curriculum implementation. Additionally, The Estonian experts are actively involved in revising the National Curriculum. Consequently, the revised curriculum will be approved for basic and secondary levels in the coming future.
Moreover, the Minister informed the Ambassador about the ongoing reforms in the field of education and science. In addition, the new draft of legislation regarding the vocational education was mentioned, which will be presented to the Georgian Parliament for approval in the nearest future.
Participants also discussed the specific steps, regarding the introduction of new exchange programs for the science students and faculty members, further enhancing the cooperation between the higher education institutions.
Towards the meeting conclusion, the Ambassador of Estonia to Georgia invited the Minister to Estonia, in order to get fully acquainted with the Estonian educational experience.
