The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli and the Chairman of the Education, Science and Culture Committee of the Parliament of Georgia - Mariam Jashi met with the experts and scientists at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN).

The sides discussed the possibility of enlargement of the Memorandum for further deepening cooperation with the world center, which will allow Georgian scientists to be fully involved in modern research projects. In addition, they agreed that more and more Georgian masters and doctorates will be involved in the "Atlas" and CMS experiments in the future.

At the meeting, Mikheil Chkhenkeli talked about the challenges of scientific infrastructure in Georgia and stated that significant works will be done in this regard. Additionally, the minister emphasized that together with Tbilisi State University, Georgian Technical University and other higher educational institutions will be able to get involved in CERN experiments.

Towards the end of the meeting, which was held in Geneva, and attended by various international organizations, as well as the Permanent Representative of Georgia to UN departments – Viktor Dolidze, Mikheil Chkhenkeli and Mariam Jashi thanked the Atlas and CMS leaders for supporting Georgian scientists and expressed their hope that the discussion regarding Georgia becoming an associated member in CERN will bring positive results.
