This style has been conceived approximately in 1600-ies in genres of sculpture, painting, literature, music and spread all over the Europe of those times. The course was aspiring to the greatness of art and to more effective, non-domestic forms. Many layers of the world culture had their influences on the formation of this phenomenon. Performing with maximally close manner and on the corresponding instruments, has a great popularity in Europe for decades already. Besides aesthetical and exotic load, such performances are interesting from the point of view of the history as well. For example, we may get closer to the methods and other unique features of composers of different countries. The huge and diverse repertoire can also be striking for us.

In 2015, Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra "Georgian Sinfonietta" established "Tbilisi Baroque Festival" with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia. “Georgian Sinfonietta” is the only academic ensemble of old music in the region. It has already attracted the attention of the best concert halls of the world.

On November 9, it will opened by a concert dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Georgian Sinfonietta. The documentary film 'Georgian Sinfonietta 10', directed by Nino Akhvlediani, will be screened in the first half of the concert. The Early Dances will be performed in the second half of the concert, transporting attendees to a royal ball of the Baroque period. On November 16,attendees will beabletoattend a concert of German music. On November 19 and 22, before the beginning of the concert, David Gigineishviliwill conduct a thematic introductory lecture in the Theater Hall. On November 19,German conductor and violinist Christoph Mayer will hold a concert of baroque music titled 'Italy meets England.'

On November 20 at 19:00, Thea Mukeria’s public lecture – “The Mystery of Mozart Requiem” will be held at “Sinfonietta Stage” (sanapiro str. N4, buildin 2, floor 8). On November 22, the festival will host Italian Ensemble Zefiro founded by AlfredoBernardini. Ensemble F.Krom¬ mer, with works by Mozart and Beethoven, wi ll present a concert called 'An Evening with Harmony in Vienna.'On November 25, for the first time in Georgia, Mozart's 'Requiem' will beperformed with period instruments, including a positiveorgan, on loan to Tbilisi from famous mentor Claus Hipp. The performers are: the Tbilisi Baroque Choir, the 'Georgian Sinfonietta' and the musicians of Ensemble Zefiro and the soloists are: Mariam Kublashvili (soprano), Nutsa Zakaidzemezzo (soprano), Giorgi Davitadze (tenor), and Givi Gigineishvili (bass). On December I, 2 and 3, for the first time in Georgia,at the closing ceremony ofTbilisi Baroque Festival, 'Georgian Si nfonietta' and Giorgi Aleksidze Tbilisi Contemporary Ballet (Artistic Director Mariam Aleksidze)will present Contemporary Ballet 'Folia' at the Royal District Theatre. Scienti fic and educational lectures and workshops will be held within the frames of the Festival. The participants of the festival also include: Tbilisi Baroque Choir, Mikheil Abrarnishvil i (coun¬ tertenor), Anna Kurdovanidze (harpsichord , positive organ), Alexander Vasadze (harpsichord , positive organ), Etienne Galletier (theorbo , baroque guitar, France), Francesco Olivero (theorbo / baroque guitar,Italy), George Kobulashvili (oboe), Kakhl Chargeishvili (Salamuri), and Merab Sanodze (drums).
