Owing to the initiative of Catholicos
Patriarch of Georgia, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of
Georgia begins to implement large-scale green iniative for public schools.
Within the framework of the project,
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Mikheil Batiashvili and
Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture - Levan Davitashvili
participated in the process of planting trees together with the students of the
117th Public School.
From March 29, 2019, in Tbilisi and Rustavi,
16000 trees will be planted. Today, owing to the initiative of the Patriarch,
we launched this large-scale project. It is important that the students spend
their free time in a green environment. The initiative will continue and I hope
every student will be involved in the proces"- said the minister.
In order to enhance the awareness of the
students on environmental issues, the Scientific Research Center of the
Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia handed fruit trees to the Ministry of
Education Science and Sport. In the first stage of the project, the yards of
public schools in Tbilisi and Rustavi will be enhanced with the abovementioned
plants.
On the initiative of the Ministry, planting of greenery in
various educational institutions will be held in the future.
