World no Tobacco Day was celebrated at I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Pictograms of different countries were exhibited in the hall of the second building of Tbilisi State University, booklets and flyers were distributed as well. Rector of TSU, Giorgi Khubua spoke about the importance of such preventive events in the educational institutions and offered the Alliance of Tobacco Control to organize event together. By the announcement of Deputy Minister, Irine Kurdadze, anti tobacco regulations at the legal basis are not enough and holding this kind of activities is very important, particularly at public schools.

According to the information of the Head of Oncology Center, Rezo Gagua, before the present, amount of smoking people was 10men/1 woman. Now, the amount is equal. Cancer of lung is the first that causes the death among other kinds of cancers. According to Rezo Gagua, 100mln patients died with cancer of lung in 20^th century. If the indicator of mortality increases for this reason, the level of death-rate will amount to 1 billion in 21^st century.

Several schools that are free from tobacco were awarded at the event. Representatives of Italian School ‘’Tsiskari”, School “Sarkmeli”, and Public schools №136, №158, №64, №26 were rewarded with certificates of Honor.
