A press conference was held regarding the Batumi Seventh International Music Festival at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.

The event was led by Mikheil Batiashvili - the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Eliso Bolkvadze – the Founder of Festival, as well as the Director of International Cultural and Humanitarian Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia - Ketevan Kandelaki.

Internationally recognised musical artists, local performers and emerging young talent will make Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi the place to go for classical music enthusiasts during the Batumi Music Fest in early September.

The ten-day festival organised by the Lyra Foundation of internationally celebrated Georgian pianist Elisso Bolkvadze will be held under high patronage of the UNESCO between September 1-10.

This  festival is also supported by the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.

Bolkvadze established the festival through her charity foundation in 2013. Thanks to their effort the event became the first Georgian festival to join the European Festivals Association in 2015.

Recognised as the only cultural project in Georgia bearing the UNESCO title, the festival aims to support young promising musicians and to help them pave the path to the wider international audience.

The celebration of classical music will not be limited to artist appearances — the Music Fest will also host an “art camp” programme of trainings for up to 300 young people from various parts of Georgia.
