Tbilisi hosts European Championship for the first time in Georgian boxing history. A team of boys and girls from 30 countries visit Georgia. More than 300 athletes compete in 26 weight categories.
The European Championship was officially opened at Vazha Kacharava Volleyball Arena. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport - Shalva Gogoladze, President of the National Boxing Federation - David Tsiklauri and Vice President of the European Boxing Confederation - Ayuf Gyozgechi. The International Boxing Federation and the European Boxing Confederation awarded Mikheil Batiashvili and David Tsiklauri for special contribution to the development and promotion of boxing.
Boxers will fight for medals for a week. The European Championship will end on August 11.
