Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkini held a meeting with up to 150 high school students, teachers and school principals and presented the new initiatives of the President of Georgia within the education system for the period of 2010-2011.
According to the statement of the Minister, the main goal of the reform within the general education system is to get the students back to the schools and to attach a greater importance to the high school diploma. As expected, the students will take final exams in 10 subjects. The results of these exams will be a basis for assessment of their level of knowledge.
The presentation which featured many other interesting issues aroused a great interest among the teachers, students and principals. The meeting was held in the format of dialogue and the participants expressed their willingness to be actively engaged in the ongoing reform process.
Similar meetings will be held in the future in all regions of Georgia.
