The Minister of Education, Science, Culture
and Sport of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli met with the employees of the
Ministry on his first working day and introduced them with the future plans and
overall goals of the Ministry.
According to the minister, the strategic
priority of the government is education and science, so the complex reform of
education will continue at an even faster pace. During the meeting, Mikheil
Chkhenkeli talked about the importance of culture and sport as well.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli: “Georgia is a country
that is known worldwide for its science, culture and sport. Sport and a healthy
lifestyle in general is directly related to issues amongst the young generation
of this country. Promoting mass sport is extremely important for schools and
universities. Consequently, the inclusion of sports in the education system and
the popularization of a healthy lifestyle remains a priority for us. As for
culture - this is of most particular importance to Georgia, and therefore my
position is that the Ministry of Culture should exist as a separate entity. The
team is being consulted on this issue. ”
During the meeting with the staff, Mikheil
Chkhenkeli emphasized that he was happy to work with a professional team once
again and expressed his wish for less bureaucracy, thus leaving more room for
creativity and teamwork in the process.
