Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Nunu Mitskevichi, together with the Director of LEPL National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement - Tamar Makharashvili held a working meeting with the rectors of higher education institutions. The purpose of the meeting was to get acquainted with the main innovations planned in 2020 in Higher Education Quality Assurance System.
Several important issues were discussed at the workshop. According to Deputy Minister - Nunu Mitskevichi, the ministry plans to modify the accreditation system, in particular the transition to cluster accreditation, which involves evaluating only a few areas of educational programs by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.
Tamar Makharashvili presented in detail the main stages according to which the compatibility of the current educational programs in Georgia with the updated National Qualifications Framework and Classification of Learning Areas should be ascertained.
It is also important that the certification and professional development of the members of the Experts and Accreditation Board is planned for 2020. Such an approach would help to form a body of highly qualified experts. In addition, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement provides planning and implementation of support activities, trainings, workshops for higher education institutions.
Representatives of higher education institutions expressed their views on the challenges in the Georgian higher education quality assurance system and discussed ways to overcome them.
