A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Batumi State Maritime Academy and British Royal Naval College in Portsmouth. Within the scope of the understanding, parties will work on joint projects and implement various exchange programs. The agreement was signed in Batumi.

The event was attended by Tamar Kitiashvili -Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Maia Khajishvili - Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara Autonomous Republic, as well as the representatives “English Book Education” organization and the Transport Agency. The parties also held a workshop during which they discussed the details of cooperation and the introduction of an international standard of teaching quality.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Tamar Kitiashvili spoke about the importance of cooperation between Batumi State Maritime Academy and the British Royal Naval College and emphasized the internationalization of vocational education, which is one of the important priorities of the ongoing reform. According to her, Georgian students will be given an excellent opportunity to gain international experience and exposure.

The decision on cooperation between Georgian and British schools was made during a meeting with Georgian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport - Mikheil Chkhenkeli and management of Portsmouth College. It is noteworthy, that Portsmouth College is a UK state vocational college known for its high-tech teaching methods and its graduates are distinguished by their high academic standing.
