Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Irine Kurdadze and Director of Teacher Professional Development Center, Gia Mamulashvili got familiarized with the training process of IT teachers in Tbilisi Public School №187 where teachers of several schools are being trained as well.
MES, together with the Teacher Professional Development Center has been implementing informational communication technology training programs for 2 years. The goal of this program is to support teachers in developing appropriate skills for integration in the educational process of technologies.
Following trainings of two levels are being implemented: basic course for teachers in informational-communication technologies and using informational-communication technologies in the educational process.
2119 teachers passed basic trainings in 2009. Totally, 1900 teachers will be trained in 2010.
1714 teachers passed training courses of the second level in 2009. Around 1500 teachers prepared draft lessons equipped with IT and uploaded education projects using appropriate digital resources (blogs, presentations, assessment sections, audio-video files and etc) and supported enriching Georgian digital educational materials, making educational environment variable as well as encouraged usage of computer labs existing at schools in educational process.
3500 teachers will pass the second level training course of IT in 2010. 3196 teachers have been already retrained.
School informational managers will be trained in operational systems and local network administration. 335 informational managers were trained in 2009. Additionally 400 IT managers at schools will be trained in 2010.
Textbooks of basic and second level courses have been developed and published. Teachers who will participate in trainings will receive textbooks free of charge.
