The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli, participated in the first summit on the transformation of virtual education organized by the Microsoft Corporation, addressed the public and introduced them to the challenges facing the Georgian education system and ways to tackle them amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The summit was also attended by the Ministers of Education of Austria and Ecuador, representatives of Microsoft Corporation, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD).
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), has released a report on tackling the educational challenges in 2020 caused by COVID-19 pandemic. Study examined practices from 98 countries. The steps taken by the Georgian government to ensure a continuous education process are one of the best examples. Additionally, during his speech at the Microsoft-organized summit, Mikheil Chkhenkel thanked Andreas Schleicher, head of the OECD's education directorate, for the high praise.
