Nunu Mitskevichi, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia participated in the online award ceremony of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship programs, addressed the attendees, and congratulated 28 new scholars with their victory. The award ceremony was also attended by German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch and Head of the DAAD Tbilisi Information Center, Gebhard Royle.

Despite the pandemic significantly changing the world and the daily lives of each one of us, you managed to achieve this success and gain the opportunity to continue your studies to improve your German language skills in a country with such a rich academic history. Additionally, your have a unique chance to contribute to the development of our country with the knowledge gained abroad. Congratulations and good luck!”

The Deputy Minister also thanked the German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for their many years of fruitful and successful cooperation in the development of all levels of education, including science and culture.

Moreover, Nunu Mitskevichi noted that the partnership with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), as well as with other German organizations, is the best example of productive cooperation between two countries. According to her, there is a successful cooperation between the German Academic Exchange Service and Georgian higher education institutions. Namely, the cooperation between Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation and DAAD for the development of science in Georgia is of great importance.

329 people applied for scholarships in 2020, but only 28 of them were selected. Among the winners are high school students, undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students from various universities.
