Leri Khabelov will head the Georgian National Olympic Committee for the next 4 years. Leri Khabelov, who has headed the Olympic Committee since 2012, was elected president for a third term at a specially organized session today. The composition of the executive committee was also approved at the executive committee.
The session was attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Shalva Gogoladze, Head of Sports Development Department, Irakli Dolaberidze, representatives of the Olympic Committee and sports federations, as well as current and veteran athletes.
Before the voting, Leri Khabelov submitted a report on the 2020 activities of the GEC. The session discussed the financial report of the audit, the preparation of Georgian athletes for the Tokyo Olympics and the possible hosting of the 2025 Winter Youth Olympic Festival.
The leadership of the Olympic Committee remains unchanged. Elguja Berishvili will work as the first vice-president once again. Mamuka Khabareli and Nino Salukvadze will also remain as vice-presidents, and Emzar Zenaishvili will be the acting secretary general.
