The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia together with the National Centre for Education Accreditation continues a series of Regional Academic Summits and trainings for higher educational institutions in the framework of the Twinning/CEIBAL project.
The sixth Regional Summit on ‘New trends in medical education and Bologna Process ‘ was held at Tbilisi State Medical University on the 23rd of July ( Address: Blue Hall, University Campus, Building 1, ground floor). The summit was opened by the Rector of the Tbilisi State Medical University Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria .The opening speeches were followed by the presentations of the invited German experts - Professor Sibylle Soboll, chair of commission for international relations of faculty of medicine at Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf, Mrs. Ulrike Arnold, Director International Office Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, MEDINE – executive board member, Klaus Kayser , Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult.,Director UICC-TPCC, Institute of Pathology, Charite, Berlin and heads of QA of medical universities in Georgia.
The closing session of the Summit was dedicated to open discussions chaired by Prof. Rima Beriashvili, Deputy Rector of TSMU / MEDINE member. In this part of the Summit SWOT / GAP analysis was carried out to test/check readiness of all medical universities for forthcoming programme accreditation. Representatives of 14 accredited medical institutions attended the Academic summit and the seminars held on the same topic (‘new trends in medical education and Bologna Process’) on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of July.
And the seminars on Pathology module in integrated undergraduate medical curriculum were delivered by Prof. Klaus Kayser on the 26th and 27th of July.( TSMU, Blue Hall, University Campus, Building 1, ground floor).
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is the first public body in Georgia where the Twinning project is implemented. This Twinning project is implemented in the framework of ENPI and aims to introduce European Standards in the Higher Education System of Georgia. The project is implemented together with Germany and France.
