The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, participated in the Westminster Online Festival of Diversity and Inclusion, addressed the audience, and spoke about the long-term fruitful cooperation between Westminster University and higher education institutions in Georgia. The festival, which was mainly dedicated to summarizing the activities of the University in the South Caucasus, was organized by the University of Westminster.

In his speech, the Minister noted that in close cooperation with the University of Westminster and University College London, Georgia's leading universities have won six EU Tempus grants.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli focused on a project implemented by the University of Westminster in conjunction with Tbilisi State University. The project was named the best example of international collaboration with UK universities in 2012 and received the Times Higher Education Award. The EU recognized it as the best project in the history of the Tempus program.

The Minister also spoke about the achievements of the University of Westminster in the biomedical sciences in e-learning and blended learning and hematology, which is the best illustration of collaboration, knowledge sharing and enables universities to develop self-esteem and general development.

As a result of one of the projects of the University of Westminster, courses in immunology, hematology and microbiology have been successfully introduced in many universities in Georgia, including: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Batumi State University, Kutaisi State University, Davit Agmashenebeli University, Tbilisi Medical Academy and Telavi State University.

Towards the end of his speech, the Minister expressed hope that the festival will provide an opportunity for representatives of different countries and regions to share experiences and opportunities, which is the best way to jointly overcome the challenges of the modern era. Stable and long-term collaboration will significantly help scientists and academics, using innovative approaches, greatly enhance the quality of research and the scientific potential in general.

Georgian higher education institutions have been collaborating with the University of Westminster for many years. Since 1996, Georgian universities have been actively participating in projects in the field of immunology, hematology, and microbiology. It should be noted that the University of Westminster has equipped biomedical laboratories in Georgia with special medical equipment and modern equipment.
