First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Akaki Seperteladze opened a new stadium in Tbilisi Public School №60. Education and Science Infrastructure Development Agency of MES implemented the construction workings. The stadium is in compliance with modern standards. Around 35,000GEL was spent for the construction workings.
New stadium gives opportunity of teaching three types of sport – football, basketball and volleyball. Refurnishing the similar stadiums is underway in many public schools of Tbilisi. Gyms will be refurbished in 72 Tbilisi Public Schools and open stadiums – in 28 schools by the new academic year.
Refurbishing of sport infrastructure is being held in the schools where the sport environment did not exist or the infrastructure needed renovation. In the nearest future, the sport infrastructure will be rehabilitated in all public schools of Tbilisi.
Refurbishing the gyms and open stadiums is especially important for replacing the physical fitness lessons with sports classes in all public schools from the new academic year.
The new project, initiated by the President will be launched in 2010-2011 academic years based on the changes in National Curriculum. The project that envisages integration of physical education and sports as well as development of healthy way of life will be implemented in all public schools of Georgia.
