"I love the profession I serve. Even the slightest success of my student brings me the greatest happiness. I'm proud when I witness my student’s eventual success on daily basis. Everything can be achieved with small steps and gradual, consistent approach” – said Pikria Pirtskhalaishvili, Senior Special Teacher of Public School N64 School. Pikria actively works with students to strengthen their cognitive, academic, motor or functional skills. She also plans group work to advance social skills, in conjunction with actively attending lessons and monitoring students’ involvement in the learning process.

Apparently, it all started when she read Faulkner's "Noise and Rage" as a child. Moreover, it was through this novel that the successful teacher discovered, there are different people with different feelings and various perceptions of the world:

"It was then when I had an abundance of questions: where were these people, what was their life like, why did they not look around for me ... The search for answers to these questions led me to a freshman social therapy home, where such people were especially cared for. Many questions have been answered for me. I started thinking with my friends about what I could do to make them visible to the public and to make their voices heard.

Upon graduation, there was a lot of preparation and training, working as a helper in schools or kindergartens. The process sparked the revelation, that consistent work brings the real change.

After that, it happened naturally that I chose a master's program in special education. That was the profession where I could make these changes. I was able to make a small contribution so that we could better see and understand people with different perceptions and feelings.”

After defining the special development scheme for special education teachers and their salary policy, Pikria Pirtskhalaishvili, in accordance with her master's education, became a senior special education teacher and will receive the relevant status supplement from 2021.
