With the support of the Government of Georgia, a regional investment forum was held in Ozurgeti, where the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), local entrepreneurs, potential investors and public and private sectors discussed the development of the local economy.
The forum discussed the investment potential of the Guria region, and the projects implemented with the financial support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the governments of Austria and Switzerland. Among them, the support provided by these international partner organizations for the development of vocational education was assessed.
The meeting was attended by Sozar Subari - Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government, Tamar Kitiashvili - Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mzia Giorgobiani - Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Anna Chernishova, - UNDP Director, and various representatives of local government and the private sector.
In her speech, Tamar Kitiashvili spoke about the ongoing reform in vocational education and the opportunities that the training of professionals in various fields creates in terms of activating the economic potential of the country. She also spoke about the activities of Horizon College in the Guria region and stressed the importance of state and donor investment in the development of the college.
