Special teacher Nino Khimshiashvili has been the senior special teacher at Tbilisi Public School N55 since 2021. The opportunity to succeed in this vocation was given to her with the relevant master's education.
Nino does not consider her own progress as her own merit. Believes that the success of a special educator is the merit of the school and all the people who jointly care for the student's development.
"The 55th public school, where I work has a healthy environment and an unusual atmosphere. It is the highly qualified staff and experienced strong team that drive my active involvement, be it the learning process or other challenges. The school administration, parents and teachers will discuss all the details together and we will work together on a particular issue.” - stated the teacher.
As Nino Khimshiashvili recalls, she became interested in inclusive education at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University when she passed the subject "Inclusive Education" while studying in the primary education program. "Why was I not informed before? What were the challenges in inclusive education? During this period, I wanted to get more information and contribute to the realization of this field" - says Nino and talks about the challenges of online learning during the pandemic, which was difficult for everyone, especially for students with special educational needs. "Most of the children could not communicate with technologies and struggled to maintain the engagement with the learning process. Consequently, I worked individually with every parent. The most important thing is that I overcame all kinds of difficulties by cooperating with them and communicating healthily. The overall role of the school in dealing with various degrees of difficulties is truly special.”
Nino Khimshiashvili’s advise her colleagues: "Be sincere in your work, set a goal to achieve the maximum with all students and most importantly, protect your individual and student's rights."
