The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Eurasia Week organized an online seminar on Competitiveness as part of its Competitiveness Program, the main topic of which was the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises in Georgia.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the projects implemented to support the digital transformation of entrepreneurship in Georgia and shared their successful experiences in this field.
Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia participated in the seminar as one of the main speakers. The Deputy Minister addressed the participants of the meeting and spoke about the importance of integration of modern technologies and digital features in the education system.
As Tamar Kitiashvili noted, in the conditions of the pandemic, despite many difficulties, distance learning was introduced in the Georgian education system and several important steps were taken to promote the adaptation of digital technologies in the educational process at all levels.
She added that both general education and vocational and higher education institutions are focused on offering young people with programs that will help them develop relevant skills to overcome the challenges of the digital world.
The seminar was led by William Thompson, Head of the Eurasian Division of the OECD Global Relations Secretariat, and was attended by representatives of the Georgian organizations, education experts, international organizations and the private and civil sector.
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Competitiveness Program has been implemented since 2008. The main goal of the program is to support the countries of Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia in terms of promoting the business environment and economy.
