The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, in cooperation with the private sector and partner international organizations, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), has developed work-based learning regulatory documents to be submitted to the government.
The regulatory framework aims to promote the introduction of various forms of work-based learning in vocational education, to develop a transparent system for awarding qualifications for relevant programs, to involve companies with appropriate motivation and readiness in the learning process, to increase the role of industry-based learning and more.
The parties summarized the process of working on the regulatory framework at a meeting organized with the support of GIZ, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Kitiashvili.
According to Tamar Kitiashvili, at this stage, cooperation with the private sector for the development of vocational education is at a high level. This is evidenced by the new regulatory framework, which, in accordance with international standards, delegates a number of functions and responsibilities from the state to the private sector.
During the workshop, participants presented recommendations on the approval and implementation of documents. It was noted that a flexible and streamlined regulatory framework will help improve the quality of dual and generally job-based learning, which in turn will have a positive impact on graduate competitiveness and employment.
