To raise public awareness about science, its importance and goals, at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, for the first time in Georgia, the Internet channel "World of Science" will be created on the website of the Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation.
The presentation of the project was opened by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nunu Mitskevichi, who spoke about the current and future news implemented by the Ministry to promote science. As the Deputy Minister noted, it is important that the new scientific platform will help to present both young and talented scientists, as well as to introduce to the public all the projects funded by the National Science Foundation.
Jaba Samushia, General Director of the Rustaveli Foundation, made a presentation on the new channel and stressed that the Internet channel will promote Georgia's rich scientific traditions, well-known scientific schools, the community of their founders, including young people, education, science, education and ongoing heritage system.
It is important that the scientific channel "Science World" will publish both popular science and documentary films on science, TV programs, videos created within the competitions administered by the Rustaveli Foundation, virtual museums or video blogs.
Within the framework of the project, memorandums of cooperation will be signed with the Georgian National Museum, the National Archives of Georgia, the National Scientific Library, the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, the Georgian Art Palace and other institutions.
Historian and director Toma Chagelishvili spoke at the event, which was attended by representatives of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, research institutes, libraries and museums. A film screening was held at the end.
