With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, together with the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, is carrying out an information campaign to promote vocational education - "Choose your future profession".
As part of the campaign, the Open Day was held online at Phasis College, where the participants were introduced to educational programs and future plans of the college to promote further employment of graduates. Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Magda Maghradze, Executive Director of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, representatives of Phasis College, students and other invited guests took part in the open door event.
Tamar Kitiashvili addressed the students participating in the meeting, thanked them for their interest in vocational education and wished them success in their future endeavours. As the Deputy Minister noted, all the necessary conditions are created in the college for the training of highly qualified, competitive specialists in accordance with the requirements of the labor market. According to her, the school offers a variety of programs for those wishing to receive vocational education and a student-centered educational environment that meets modern standards.
We would like to remind you that Phasis College carries out vocational educational activities at two locations - in Poti and in the village of Nojikhevi, Khobi Municipality. The educational institution offers students programs in business, administration, law, and information and communication technologies, as well as engineering, manufacturing, construction, arts, humanities, education, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary medicine.
With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, both college buildings have been fully renovated and adapted for people with special educational needs. At the same time, a strong material-technical base corresponding to vocational education programs with training auditoriums, workshops and laboratories is provided on the spot.
"Phasis" is one of the leaders in the region in terms of implementing vocational education programs in the field of fisheries. In particular, with funding from the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the college has developed state-of-the-art vocational education programs and training resources: textbooks, environmental, and gender policy documents. Also, a fish processing training workshop and a chemical bacteriological and biochemical laboratory with modern technical equipment were set up at the college.
The college also offers short-term training programs for those seeking vocational education. In addition, teaching is conducted in a modular as well as dual approach, which includes the implementation of work-based and integrated educational programs.
