The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli expresses his condolences over the passing of Georgian scientist and teacher - Tamaz Kvachantiradze.

"I express my deep sorrow over the death of the famous Georgian philologist, master of the Georgian word - Tamaz Kvachantiradze, and I offer my condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.

Tamaz Kvachantiradze has been teaching and researching at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University for many years. He became a favourite lecturer not only for students but also for the general public.

Tamaz Kvachantiradze's TV series "Georgian Language and Literature" and "Journey to the Word" equally fascinated the listeners of all generations, where the author gave them an unforgettable guide in the world of Georgian literature and speech.

Tamaz Kvachantiradze was the Minister of Education of the Republic of Georgia in 1993-1998.

I once again express my condolences to the whole of Georgia. The death of Tamaz Kvachantiradze is undoubtedly a great loss for the philological sciences and the Georgian society. "
