The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, along with Givi Mikanadze, the Chairman of the Education and Science Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, is currently on a working visit to Edinburgh, participating in the 'Going Global 2023' higher education conference.
As part of the visit, Giorgi Amilakhvari conducted a meeting with Ayman Ashour, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt. The discussions revolved around current and prospective collaborations between the two countries in higher education and science.
Giorgi Amilakhvari presented the ongoing reforms in higher and professional education in Georgia and outlined the new vision for the development of professional education, emphasizing active private sector involvement. The minister also briefed the participants on the ministry's initiatives regarding the internationalization of higher education.
Towards the conclusion of the meeting, the Egyptian side expressed readiness to collaborate with Georgia and jointly implement educational projects at the higher education level. Both parties agreed to establish a working group, particularly focused on supporting scientific research, especially in the field of archaeology, addressing various pertinent issues.
The 'Going Global 2023' conference, organized by the British Council in Edinburgh, serves as a platform for education ministers and leaders worldwide to address challenges in higher education, explore solutions, and discuss future prospects for collaboration.
