The Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, who is on a working visit to London, held a meeting with Jamie Arrowsmith, the Director of Universities UK International (UUKI), during the World Education Forum. UUKI represents all British universities on international platforms.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of an in-depth research report on transnational education conducted by Times Higher Education in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth and the British Council. According to the minister, the research results are very promising and present a significant opportunity to attract British universities to Georgia.
Additionally, the minister emphasized, that Georgia has the potential to become a regional hub of education, and implementing various projects in this direction is crucial. The meeting participants also highlighted the importance of organising a study visit for British universities to Georgia.
The British side expressed its willingness to visit Georgia, thus helping assess Georgia's potential, foster closer ties between Georgian and British universities, and integrate British education into the Georgian system through joint educational programs.
The meeting also covered promoting cooperation between higher education institutions in Georgia and Great Britain. The Georgian and the British side discussed the prospects for Georgian-British transnational education development and concrete action plans for partnership in this area.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Nodar Papukashvili, and the Ambassador of Georgia to Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Sophie Katsarava, also attended the meeting.
It should be noted that Universities UK International represents all British universities on international platforms. UUKI's main mission is to promote the internationalization of the UK higher education sector and to represent the sector on global higher education platforms.
