First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Koka Sepherteladze and Rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Khatia Dekanoidze awarded 27 resource officers with certificates.
Resource officers of this group successfully passed training in the Police Academy. They will carry out their activities in Tbilisi Public Schools. They will be distributed in specially equipped rooms.
Resource officers will be provided with uniforms, modern communication devises. They will control internal and outward perimeter of the school with the surveillance cameras. New initiative that is being implemented in the scope of the Safe School program, is designed to protect children’s safety.
Resource officers’ responsibility is to prevent crime and provide the schoolchildren with any kind of aid. They are not allowed to punish the schoolchildren, they only should protect children’s safety. Resource officer should assess the conflict and ask the principal to react appropriately. In the extreme situation, they should inform parents and MES.
