Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini introduced Teachers’ Professional Scheme to the teachers. The document was developed by the experts of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development. Director of the Center, Gia Mamulashvili explained the meaning of the newly developed document to 300 teachers.
The scheme is designed to advance competency level of the teachers, support professional development that will be positively reflected on the teaching/learning quality in general educational institutions.
Aim of the scheme is to support teachers’ professional development. After taking certification exams, teachers are able to pass the steps of career growth.
In order to pass professional development and career growth steps, teachers should pass at least 7 different activities during 7 years, for example: participation in the training programs, creating school or methodological textbooks, participation in the educational projects, conferences and seminars, schoolchildren’s success in the international Olympiads and competitions, working with the Children With Special Needs ad etc.
