Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irine Kurdadze attended the presentation of Special Teachers’ Standard. Presentation was held by the experts of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development. Public School Principals, representatives of the specialized schools and NGOs attended the presentation.
Many children have problems in studying due to the physical, intellectual, social, emotional, linguistic or other conditions. Talented students may face difficulties in learning as well. In the scope of the inclusive education, special teachers’ duty is to involve children of this category in the education process.
One of the main factors for efficient inclusive education is the high qualified special teacher. National Center for Teacher Professional Development based on the standard, works on the training modules for the special teachers. The standard will be basis for the universities in order to develop bachelor’s and MA programs for the special teachers.
Standard envisages competencies, professional knowledge and practical skills of the special teachers. Special teachers play important roles in academic achievements of the Children With Special Needs. Special teacher evaluates children’s special needs in terms of learning, they give consultations to the children, their parents, teachers and other specialists.
