Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkini and State Minister for Diaspora Issues Mirza (Papuna) Davitaia held a presentation on an unified learning program for Sunday Schools abroad.

This learning program was jointly developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Office of State Minister for Diaspora Issues. The experts from Ministry‘s National Center for Teacher Professional Development and National Curriculum Center participated in elaborating of the program.

The unified program for Sunday Schools abroad fully matches the school learning programs in Georgia and envisages a full integration of Diaspora representatives into a common Georgian educational space in case they return to Georgia.

The learning programs were developed for three subjects:  Georgian Language and Literature, History of Georgia and Geography. Schoolchildren’s age abilities and peculiarities as well as general living environment have been taken into account.

Video lessons in separate subjects have also been made that include the presentation of learning programs, model lessons and recommended literature.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia plans to develop textbooks for the schoolchildren living abroad. Teachers’ handbooks are also planned to be published sometime soon.
