First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Akaki Sepherteladze and Governor of Imereti region Lasha Makatsaria visited a new school that is being constructed in the village of Puti, Zestaphoni.
The old building of the school was constructed in the 80s of 20th century, because of the slipping ground the schools got damaged, furthermore the earthquake has broken down the walls of the building. For two years the school has been operating in the building of village council. 150 schoolchildren have to study in an unusual learning environment.
The Ministry has transferred 500 000 GEL to the municipally to build a new school, the local government has also allocated 150 000 GEL for this purpose. Construction of a new building began in September, 2010 and is planned to be finished for the 2011-2012 academic year. So schoolchildren will have opportunity to study in a modern learning environment.
