The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkini opened a students’ dormitory, hotel and wine house at Kachreti Professional College.
Kachreti Professional College has rich educational traditions as it is preparing the personnel for Agriculture, Tourism, Construction and Service Sectors in Georgia.
Annually up to 505 students will receive a professional education. 300 students will enjoy the benefits of the students’ dormitory free of charge. The graduates of the college will be employed at partner companies. Partner companies express readiness to recruit the best graduates; among them are: “Avangardi”, “Teliani Valley”, “Shukhman Wine Georgia”, “Sakartvelo- Marani”, Corporation” Kindzmarauli”, as well as the hotels in Sighnaghi and other cities in Kakheti region.
Kachreti Professional College is placed in a special complex occupying 7 hectare. It has several buildings: teaching building, dorm, auto repair workshop and wine house. There is also number of workshops for conducting practical work.
In 2010, dormitory was rehabilitated; a wine house was also constructed to enhance the level of learning for wine-making specialty. Currently, the college is fully refurbished with up-to date technologies.
At present, there are 250 students of various nationalities and 42 teachers in the college.
By 2011, it is planned to enroll 505 students at 25 different specialties.
At the budget sector the following specialties will be offered: wine-making, viticulture, fruit and vegetable processing, grocery production, veterinary service, engine driving, hotel management specialist, receptionists, guide (geo-tourism), tour operator (agro-tourism), cook, mason, plasterer, joiner, electrician, engine repairing, technician. At non- budget sector –nurse assistant, pharmacist’s assistant, stylist (men, women), driver (different categories), accountant.
