Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkini awarded the certificates to 200 resource officers who have successfully completed the training program.
These resource officers already started to work at Tbilisi and Gori public schools. They are placed in special rooms equipped with up -to -date ICT technologies.
According to the announcement of Minister Shashkini, in 2010 school resource officers’ program was successfully implemented. Resource officers actively got involved in school life, made friends with the schoolchildren, assisted the school staff with settling the school problems. School resource officers also managed to resolve conflicts among schoolchildren in a timely and effective manner. Within the frame of the Safe School Program, this new initiative envisages giving parents a full guarantee of their children’s safety.
In order to keep schools safe, Resource Officers already commenced their activities at the public schools of Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Poti, Gori and Rustavi. It is planned to introduce resource officers to professional educational institutions and private schools.
Resource officers’ duty is to prevent conflicts and provide the schoolchildren with any kind of aid. They are not allowed to punish the schoolchildren. They are responsible to care for the safety of the schoolchildren.
