Deputy Minister of Education and Science Irine Kurdadze and Head of Administration of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia Andro Gigauri made a presentation of the project “My Senior Friend” at Tbilisi Public school №52. The project is implemented with the partnership of UN Association.
The new program envisages a voluntary friendship among juveniles and older generation. From this relationship the adolescents learn people-to people interaction, coping with everyday problems, recognizing the committed mistakes and correcting them with the help of the friends.
Involving schoolchildren in the project will contribute to enhancing children’s sense of responsibility towards society. The fact that the schoolchildren learn these important things directly from their senior friends is one of the major benefits of the program.
In the end of the presentation, Mrs. Irine Kurdadze and Mr. Andro Gigauri answered the questions of the schoolchildren.
The project “My Senior Friend” was jointly developed by the Ministry of Justice and UN Association with the support of Ministry of Education and Science. Implementation of project started from January 2011 and it is aimed at caring for the juveniles who face various problems.
