Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini is paying an official visit to the U.K. Within the scope of the visit, Minister held a meeting with the President of Trinity College at the University of Oxford Sir Ivor Roberts and his wife- Dean at the same college and coordinator of Weidenfeld Scholarship program, Lady Elisabeth Roberts. The parties discussed the issues of student exchange programs and scholarships.
Trinity College expresses readiness to accept Georgian students within the frame of the exchange programs and send its professors at Georgian higher educational institutions to deliver master classes.
Oxford University is one of the top educational institutions throughout the world, only few Georgian students manage to study there. An official agreement encompasses launching a mutual cooperation between the two countries. Decision about this was made during the official visit of the Minister.
“This agreement is very important, young and gifted Georgian students will be given opportunity to continue their studies at the University of Oxford and then return back to Georgia and actively participate in the process of building their country”, stated the Minister.
Trinity College, founded in 1555, is among 35 colleges of University of Oxford. The founder of the college was Ser Thomas Pop , he was a lawyer at the Royal Family of Henry VII and advisor to Mary Tudor .
College is close to libraries, laboratories, lecture halls and all the city’s amenities. College community consists of 300 undergraduates and 100 graduates.
