Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini and Director of National Center for Teacher Professional Development Gia Mamulashvili held a briefing on teachers’ professional development trainings.
In order to support teachers’ professional development, National Center for Teacher Professional Development will organize trainings of the teachers in all regions of Georgia. Trainings will begin from March 25th and will be held in those subjects in which teachers will pass the certification exams in 2011. Trainings will be funded by the government of Georgia and will be held in professional skills and respective subjects.
The schedule of the trainings will be posted on the web site of National Center for Teacher Professional Development (www.tpdc.ge) and will be also available at public schools and Educational Resource Centers. Teachers who wish to take trainings should register at Educational Resource Centers. Trainings will be organized at regional resource centers on the base of the schools.
Developing general educational system and upgrading the quality of learning at school are goals of the reforms of Ministry of Education and Science; Professional teachers contribute much to this process. Therefore, teacher’s continual professional development and providing them with quality training programs is one of the priorities of Georgian educational system.
