Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Nodar Surguladze opened a closing conference of the Twinning Project ”Capacity Enhancement for Implementing the Bologna Action Lines in Georgia (CEIBAL). Head of Delegation of the European Union to Georgia Philip Dimitrov and Ambassadors of France to Georgia Eric Fournier also delivered welcome speeches.

The project partners - German and French experts, as well as the representatives of the Georgian higher educational institutions participated in the conference.

Conferences summed up the activities of the project that was implemented within two years. The objectives of this Twinning project was to assist the assimilation of the main principles of the Bologna process by the key Georgian institutions and supporting Georgia for the integration into the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

This first twinning project was accomplished by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia (MES) in cooperation with European partners from Germany and France.

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as well as the French Ministry of Higher Education supported actively cooperation of German or French institutions with Georgia in science, technology and education and worked closely together with the Ministry of Science and Education of Georgia. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) from Germany and the International Centre for Pedagogical Studies (CIEP) from France and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH were jointly working together to implement the project.

The project increased institutional capacity of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE); number of short term missions of the experts was carried out, regional academic summits were organized, specific standards for programme accreditation for regulated professions and the guidebook on recognition practice were developed.
